EXERCISE!!

(consult a doctor or medical physican before embarking on your own weight loss journey) Well I was contemplating whether or not to post again today, and decided I should. My main topic of choice for now is exercise. Out of all things that i know about a healthy life style, exercise is the thing I know the most about. In children 10 and under (approx.) around 13-30 minutes of moderate exercise (running around, playing outside, etc) is suggested. In children 11-14 30-45 minutes of regular exercise (running, sports, outside activity) is suggested. In teenagers 15-19 around an hour or two of moderate exercise. For an adult (18-19-20 and up) an hour a day at least 4-5 times a week of regular exercise is suggested. If you are very heavy and over weight, consult a doctor before taking a weight loss journey, but if they leave you creative thought in how you would like to exercise, I would definitly start out by walking then moving on to swimming (not intensive) and eventaully running or walking with haste. Patience is key in exercise, and if done correctly it can be enjoyed sooo much. Common question that I hear. Does exercise really make you happy? The truth, yes and no. Exercise releases endorphins, which can make a person happy or excited. But really it is the boost of esteem, the picturing of a better and healthier life style, and the emotional relaxation that comes with exercise. I know this may go againts people, but I am a strong believer in excessive weight lifting or intense muscle building exercises do an equal amount of harm as good, maybe even more. The body does need fat to survive, its a proven fact. Intense exercise can be fun at times, but really if its too powerful and you get hurt or injured or feeling an EXTRAORDINARY amount of soreness (a small to moderate amount of soreness is normal with exercise) then you arent getting what you really want from exercise; a happy way to live and be healthy. I remember the first time I sat down and biked on a stationary bike for 60 minutes straight. I sweated more then I ever have most likely, but i enjoyed it so much. I used to only be able to do 15 minutes- 20 minutes- and 30 minutes, but I slowely built up and was able to break a fun and easy exercise goal. I stretched for 20 minutes after that, and later that night I felt amazing. Set goals for yourself in exercise that are obtainable, yet tough. Also at least once a week try to exercise with a partner or friend, because this really helps to cleanse the body and eliminate stress-just try not to get competive. Also be careful not to take the extreme of this and always exercise with someone, I would save at least one day a week to exercise by yourself because it always you to discover what you are good at, try new things without being pressured, explore how far your body can go under a normal circumstance, and really destress alone and get some peace and quiet! Hah! Oh also I LOVE exercising to great music, I dont buy into the crap of fast paced songs for while you start slower in the middle and motiviational during the end. I think all music should be to your tatse, which in its own way will be motivational. Another tip. If you watch a tv show-lets say how i met your mother monday nights at 8, work out while you watch. 30 minutes on the bike while watching the show is so much better then just sitting on the couch watching. Make sure also to get plenty of downtime, I only suggest this tip if you did not get your daily exercise that day, and over exercising can be a serious problem. If you believe you over exercise or have a fear of not getting your daily exercise, I would consult a doctor just to be safe. better safe then sorry right? If you dont get that then think of it as better safe then chronic arthiritis pain. Okay well I have tons of tips but its time to sign off for now. Dont forget to follow/friend me! Hopefully I have one reader by now. Im hoping for at least five in a month. BE HEALTHY AND LOVE

Throw away the diet- live healthy

(Consult a doctor or a medical physican before embarking on a large weight loss journey)
If you read my blog yet, which I dont think you have since I really dont think anyone has..., then you would know I have a passion for being healthy. One big thing about being healthy isn't cheating and dieting, strict diets where you cut out tons of things-sometimes even full food groups-its just well, being healthy. The best tip on dieting that I've ever heard is-dont diet. I dont mean eat what ever you want, I do mean dont think of it as a diet. Its a lifestyle change, a permanent change. A diet isnt just like dying your hair and it fading away eventually. A diet is more of getting married and commiting not just for a few months or years, but for life. It's not something you should do because you think you should, or you are told to, its something you should do because you want to be healthy! Now obviously as I said dont cut out entire things. If you are a fast food eater I want to let you know one thing. I can promise you that there is in at least a mile or two radius some sort of super market or grocery store. Fast food is SUCH crap! It really is. Yes I have had fast food cravings, but if I do go there and do get something I always feel so gross after! It makes me feel lazy and unfeeling, because of how bad it is. If you are a chronic fast food eater (b-l-d) then see a nutritionist. I know what you might be thinking. I just said dont cut out things entirely, and now im saying dont eat this at all. The thing about fast food is- you can still have those types of meals, just much healthier. Chronic midnight run for fries? Go to your grocery store and find UNSALTED sweet potato fries. Make sure they are not high in fat or cholesterol. Dieing for a cheeseburger? A Turkey burger with cheese and two BIG pieces of delish lettuce instead of a bun-amazing. I once had a jenny-o turkey burger with a SMALL bit of chipolte mayonase (emphasis on the small) and it was amazing. Mcdonalds/wendys/burger king/ etc. salads are so disgusting. Really they are! My favorite type of salad is spinach leaves with walnuts, dried cranberries, mandarian oranges, and a dressing of olive oil with lemon and a tad bit of honey. Always make your own meals! Seriously its SO much fun. They say that the friends you make in college and highschool can last forever, and the reason its true is beacuse you are experiencing new things almost every day. Having a cooking partner not only is a great way to get close or bond with someone, but a great way to be healthy. Now back to more "dieting" actaully im throwing out that term. Dieting. Dieting sends the wrong impression. living healthy sounds much better. Live healthy. Well another part of living healthy is, as I said, always cooking for yourself when ever you can. If you are tight on cash find REALLY easy recipes that have a few ingredients and are easy to make. Believe me- medical bills are WAY higher then cooking for yourself, I PROMISE! Now another thing. Going out to a restaurant isnt something I'm going to say DONT DO! Why not? Always try to order something that is not fried, breaded, or stuffed. Always ask to customize if you dont see anything healthy, and do NOT be afriad to send something back. Oil is a great replacement for butter, and it tastes fresh. Also try and ask for any dressing on the side, and attempt to customize or remove anything too unhealthy. This way you can put as much or as little as you want, without adding unneeded calories. Now if you are working out at least for an hour 4-5 times a week I'd stick to a 1800-2200 calorie diet (Male) 1400-1600 calorie diet (female). Obviously its differnet per person, especially if you are doing a lot of intense exercise, which would lead to an increase of calories. Also if you eat CRAP for food instead of healthy alternatives, you will not lose any weight. I have so many more tips but i feel this is coming to and end, so let me leave it at this. Live life as though every day in the future holds better things. LOVE yourself. REALLY DO. Thats all for now. Comment if you have any questions or comments. AND PLEASE FOLLOW

First Entry

(consolt a doctor or medical physician before embarking on any large weight loss)
I'm scared. Really scared. The world of TV and media really tricks you, especially with these INCREDIBLY skinny celebrities these days. They freak me out. And shows like the biggest loser, and dance your @ss off make it seem like all these people are loosing weight so easily. Well those people are INCREDIBLY fortunate- but it doesnt hide these TERRIBLE statistics. Dont trust my judgement on this one, but Ive heard about 80% of people who lose weight gain at least some of it back. And 2/3 of america are overweight or obese. TWO THIRDS. Imagine for every one normal person- there are two overweight people. But I'm not here to lecture anyone (who would listen) about weight loss-well not yet. (Very soon) Well the thing I think is incredibly important is being happy. I will admit, I was chubby. Now I dont have one of those amazing over 50-100 pound weight loss stories. I really have no weight loss story. But I do have a love for being healthy, and a love for loving myself. The number one golden rule- if you dont love yourself, whose going to love you? I understand the fact that over 200-250 pounds it may be hard to love yourself. It may be hard to like what you see. But the fact is- if you dont learn to love yourself, to know that you have the ability to change, the want and the need to be healthy, then you wont go anywhere-not for a while at least. If you are reading take out a piece of paper. Really quick anything you can write on- actually open up a document. Now write the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I want the first number to be something you know you're good at. There is one thing that we can all do- I know it. 2- I want you to ask anyone (most likely a friend or family member) one thing you are good at. Write it down even if you disagree. 3- a goal. Not ridiculous. Not stupid. A realistic GOOD goal. Write down what you want. When i say not stupid i dont mean not writing "I want to lose over 100 pounds." I mean dont write "I want to be skinny" Write something that will motivate you. If you know you have to lose at least 30 pounds write 30- and once you lose that if you have more to go add more. DONT sell yourself short. Okay number 4- Something you wish you could do- but cant because of well how you percieve yourself and your weight. and finally 5- leave it blank. Its blank beacuse you are going to fill it in once you achieve your goal. In my next post or two ill explain what the importance of 5 is. Now print this sheet of paper in BIG font. Print it Two-Three more times. One should go near where you sleep- maybe on your mirror- bullentin board, bed side table. Second and more put on your fridges- If you have 3 fridges put one on each. The Last one put in a special place. If you ever feel down or feel like giving up- go to this special place and look at the sheet. Remember your importance, your self worth! Alright well this little tip is a way to jump start a healthy life. Really look into the mirror now, get up after i end this sentence and look at yourself and say "Im worthy, I am alive now, and I will not allow my weight to slow me down, because I love/will love myself and I do have self worth!." Okay If you did that then i suggest taking a walk. Every person who starts off a HUGE weight loss and keeps it off starts off by walking. This is all I'd do until you consult a doctor- obviously follow their opinion over mine. Well I hope these tips helped. Bookmark me and check in tomorrow and the next few days. Lots of luck and LOTS OF LOVE
